Prior to joining Morningstar, Brian worked for BMO Nesbitt Burns, specializing in managed products for private clients. Before that, he worked in the tourism industry, holding a management position within the St. Lawrence Parks Commission. Brian earned a bachelor of commerce (honours) degree from Queen's University and is a CFA charterholder.
MARK CHOW, CFA, MANAGER, INVESTMENT RESEARCH, AON CONSULTING, is responsible for Aon Consulting’s investment research effort in Canada. He works with investment consultants and analysts across the country to refine and expand Aon’s investment manager research. Prior to joining Aon, Mark was senior fund analyst at Morningstar Canada where he was frequently quoted in the media as an expert on the Canadian investment fund industry. He was also a regular guest on the Business News Network (BNN). Previously, Mark held positions in corporate relations and as an investment advisor licensed in both equities and options. In addition to his CFA charter, Mark earned an undergraduate degree in biochemistry from the University of British Columbia. He is also a member of the Toronto CFA Society.
DAN HALLETT, PRESIDENT, DAN HALLETT & ASSOCIATES INC., Dan Hallett & Associates Inc. is a Windsor, Ont.-based investment research firm specializing in managed money products. Dan is a licensed investment counsellor in Ontario, a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder and a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) licensee. Dan has a decade of mutual fund analysis experience and often is quoted in the news media.
LANE T. PRENEVOST, CFA, FRM, HEAD OF MULTIMANAGER, HSBC GLOBAL ASSET MANAGEMENT, joined HSBC in 2005 and is responsible for investment manager research and due diligence for HSBC's Canadian distribution channels. Prior to joining HSBC, Lane was with TD Asset Management where he was responsible for managing various fund of funds and model portfolios. His duties included determining asset allocation and manager selection, as well as researching portfolio strategies. Lane received a BSc. in Actuarial Science from the University of Toronto and is a CFA charterholder. He also holds the Financial Risk Manager (FRM) designation through the Global Association of Risk Professionals. Lane is also a member of the Toronto Society of Financial Analysts.
GERALDO FERREIRA, VICE PRESIDENT, INVESTMENT PRODUCTS DEVELOPMENT AND MARKETING, TRANSAMERICA LIFE CANADA, Geraldo Ferreira joined Transamerica Life Canada, a subsidiary of AEGON Canada Inc., in 1999 and has an extensive background of experience in the financial services industry. He was appointed Vice President, Investment Product Development and Marketing in January 2003 for Transamerica Life Canada and AEGON Fund Management Inc. He is also responsible for the management of the TOP Portfolios. Prior to joining AEGON Canada in 1999, he held a number of management positions with Canada Trust and CT Investment Management Group. Mr. Ferreira has over 19 years experience in the financial services industry. He was also a contributing writer for IFIC’s Investments and Securities in Canada course. In 2002, he became a member of the Analysts’ Committee for the Canadian Investment Fund Awards. Mr. Ferreira holds a B.A from the University of Toronto and an MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University.
DOM RANDO, B. COMM, TD ASSET MANAGEMENT, Dom has been dedicated to mutual fund research and analysis since 1997. He conducts third party investment manager research for various areas within the banks distribution channels. He manages the Analysts’ Choice Funds (ACF) List of recommended mutual funds used throughout TD Waterhouse Canada’s full service, discount, and financial planning channels. He is also involved in the fund selection process for TD’s various model portfolio products including the Managed Assets Program (MAP).
LARRY HUM, MBA, CFA, SENIOR ANALYST, RBC, Larry joined RBC as a Mutual Fund Analyst in Feb. 2000. Larry is active in the selection and monitoring of the recommended list for RBC Dominion Securities, RBC Action Direct and RBC Financial Planning 's. Prior to joining RBC, Larry worked at TD Asset Management since 1994 in various service and product management roles.
BILL THOMLINSON, MBA, MANAGER, PRODUCT ANALYSIS, RAYMOND JAMES LTD., Bill joined Raymond James in December 2005. In addition to selecting funds for the Raymond James Coverage List, Bill maintains a family of model fund portfolios, and conducts due diligence on new hedge funds, linked notes, and other products. Prior to his current position, he was fund research and brand manager for the Mackenzie Cundill funds.
KARL CHEONG, CFA, INVESTMENT RESEARCH ANALYST, CREDENTIAL FINANCIAL INC, Karl joined Credential Financial in 2007 and is involved in 3rd party mutual fund research analysis and the product approval for Credential Financial’s IDA-licensed and MFDA-licensed advisors. As part of a team, he develops a list of recommended funds and model portfolios for Credential advisors. Previous to Credential, Karl worked 4 years at a privately owned mutual fund company where he helped develop a multi-manager pooled product and was responsible for investment manager research and due diligence. In addition to a B Comm in Finance from Concordia University, he is a CFA charter holder and a member of the Toronto CFA Society.
MICHAEL CLOW, DIRECTOR OF PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT, FUNDATA CANADA INC, Michael joined Fundata in 2005 and has previously acted as a data analyst and as Manager of Data Operations. He is currently Director of Product Development where he oversees new product initiatives from concept to implementation. Michael studied at the University of British Columbia where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree, specializing in Mathematics and Economics.
PHILIP LEE, CFA, FRM, SENIOR FUND ANALYST, MORNINGSTAR CANADA, Philip performs research and analysis on both individual funds and the investment fund industry. Prior to joining Morningstar in 2006, Philip held positions in performance analytics and investment research. In addition to his CFA charter and FRM designation, Philip earned an undergraduate degree (economics) from the University of Toronto. Philip is frequently quoted in the media as an expert on the Canadian investment fund industry.

CHAIR: PIERRE SAINT-LAURENT, PRESIDENT, ASSETCOUNSEL INC., Canada’s leading consultancy in alternative investments. He was formerly vice-president and shareholder at Talvest Fund Management and StrategicNova, where he was closely involved in the management and deployment of the StrategicNova Managed Futures Fund, the first widely available hedge fund in Canada. He holds a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Economics from the University of Montreal, with doctoral studies in Economics at the University of California at Berkeley. He also holds a Graduate Diploma in Business Science from HEC Montreal. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation, is a CFA Examination Grader, is a member of the Candidate Curriculum Committee Working Body of the CFA Institute and holds the CAIA designation.
AL KELLETT, CFA, CAIA, ANALYST, MORNINGSTAR CANADA, conducts investment fund research and is responsible for due diligence on investment managers. Prior to joining Morningstar, Al was a fixed income trader on a quantitative arbitrage desk, and prior to that he spent five years working for a Toronto-based fund of funds, analyzing hedge funds from all over the world. Al earned a bachelor of commerce degree from McGill University and is a CFA charterholder. He also holds the designations of Chartered Alternative Investments Analyst, Canadian Investment Manager, and Derivatives Market Specialist.
SCOT BLYTHE, MANAGING EDITOR, INVESTMENTS, ADVISOR.CA, is editor of Advisors Edge Report. Previously, he was investments editor at Advisor.ca and Advisors' Edge magazine. He has written extensively on hedge funds for those publications as well as for Benefits Canada.
DARYL CHING, VICE PRESIDENT, CANADIAN HEDGE WATCH INC., Daryl will primarily be focused on sales and marketing activities with CHW’s various product lines and branding. With over seven years of structured finance experience at both RBC Capital Markets and Coventree, Daryl has developed a well-rounded understanding of securitization transactions in traditional asset classes, as well as esoteric asset classes. Daryl began his structured finance career, primarily focused on deal structuring and underwriting, and moved on to originations, sourcing new clients and developing business strategies to maximize sales in various niches. In response to the market disruption in August 2007, Daryl launched his own consulting firm, Clarity Financial Strategy to provide insight on non-bank ABCP.

GORDON KIM, SENIOR RESEARCH ANALYST, ARROW HEDGE PARTNERS INC., is responsible for manager due diligence and the ongoing monitoring of global hedge fund managers. Mr. Kim is a key member of Arrow’s Risk Management and Investment Management committees. Prior to joining Arrow, Mr. Kim was the Head of Research at Aon Consulting. He also led the research effort for a major Canadian bank focusing on traditional, alternative and structured product research for retail distribution. As well, Mr. Kim served as a senior analyst and officer at a global consulting firm responsible for manager research, due diligence, and portfolio construction overseeing $2 billion in assets. Gordon graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Ontario and received his Master of Business Administration from the Queen's School of Business at Queen's University.
LANE T. SYLVIE MÉTHOT, CFA, INVESTMENT MANAGER RESEARCH ANALYST, WATSON WYATT WORLDWIDE, has responsibility for evaluating investment management firms and products, and assists with investment manager searches. Her research efforts primarily are focused on Canadian domiciled managers. She is also part of the International and Global Equity manager research teams and liaises with the broader North American manager research group. Prior to joining Watson Wyatt Worldwide in January 2006, Sylvie had been involved in researching investment managers and identifying suitable products for clients at a number of life insurance and wealth management companies. Sylvie has a degree in finance from Laval University in Quebec. She is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder and a member of the CFA Institute and the Toronto Society of Financial Analysts.
PETER R. HENRY, PRESIDENT, PROTEUS PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT INC., graduated from Trent University in 1984 with a degree in Economics. From 1984 to 1992 Peter was Manager of Employee Benefits and Pension Products for one of Canada’s leading providers. Peter was involved with new business development as well as client service responsibilities for employee benefit and pension plans. In 1992 Peter accepted the position of Eastern Regional Director of the London Capital Management Group, the investment management subsidiary of the London Life Insurance Company. Responsibilities included marketing and client service of pooled and segregated fund management for Canadian Pension Plans. In October of 1994 Peter established Proteus Performance Management Inc. to provide Pension Governance, Performance Measurement and Investment Manager Search for Canadian Retirement Programs.
MARK DOWDELL, CFA, VICE PRESIDENT, RETIREMENT & INVESTMENT SERVICES, PAL BENEFITS INC., began his career over 15 years ago at a major Canadian insurer where he specialized in two critical areas: Business development and client management in the group retirement marketplace. Subsequently, at a leading Canadian investment counsel firm, Mr. Dowdell expanded on these specialties with high net worth individual client families. At Pal Benefits Inc., Mr. Dowdell oversees all aspects of the Retirement & Investment Services Business Unit. In addition, he provides consulting services – including investment manager search and selection – for Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution Pension Plans, Deferred Profit Sharing and Group Registered Retirement Savings Plans. In the current climate of corporate governance, Mr. Dowdell assists clients in understanding and addressing their CAP governance responsibilities.

A graduate of the University of Toronto, Janny was a pension consultant prior to starting her own firm. She lives in Toronto with her family.

Since then, she has watched the publication grow from a 16-page newspaper published 10 times a year to an 80-page-plus paper published 16 times a year. She is also associate publisher and editor-in-chief of the annual Canadian Investment Guide, published in conjunction with the Canadian Investment Awards, and Investment Executive's Money Planner, an annual personal finance magazine. Prior to joining Investment Executive, Tessa was editor of the Financial Post annual magazines, including the Financial Post 500, and held various reporting and editing positions with the Financial Post newspaper, the Financial Times of Canada and the Toronto Sun. Tessa is the mother of two daughters and is a graduate of the University of Windsor.
GARY TEELUCKSINGH, SVP - AMERICAS, SATYAM COMPUTER SERVICES, Gary is SVP - Americas, for Satyam Computer Services, a global leader in consulting, IT outsourcing and offshoring. Gary has over 20 years of Financial Services experience. He has worked for organizations such as CGI Group, CIBC and AIC Group. He is a member of Investment Funds Institute of Canada (IFIC), a current member of the program advisory committee for George Brown and a past director of Stone & Co. Asset Management. Gary is co-author of the book "Choosing the Best Financial Advisor" currently available at www.morningstar.ca. He has earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts from the University of Western Ontario, along with an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business Administration. Gary is married with 2 children and his interests include basketball, volleyball and most recently skiing.

2008 Green Company Award for Environmental Leadership

PETER LOVE, CHIEF ENERGY CONSERVATION OFFICER, ONTARIO POWER AUTHORITY, Peter Love was appointed Ontario’s first Chief Energy Conservation Officer to head the Conservation Bureau, a division of the Ontario Power Authority. His mandate is to provide leadership in electricity conservation and champion a conservation culture in Ontario. No stranger to the concept of a “cultural shift” in the Province, early in his career Mr. Love worked as a project coordinator for Pollution Probe with the team that developed the concept “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle”.
MARC DUCHESNE, DIRECTOR, CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY AND ENVIRONMENT, BELL CANADA, Marc has been very active in the area of corporate responsibility for over 10 years during which he has developed Bell’s sustainability vision and strategy and is now responsible to coordinate its implementation. Marc sits on numerous Boards and advisory committees for sustainability organizations nationally and internationally.
PAUL BATES, DEAN, DEGROOTE SCHOOL OF BUSINESS AT MCMASTER UNIVERSITY, Paul Bates has been a leader and educator in the Canadian business community for more than two decades. In March of 2004 he was appointed as the dean of the DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. Following service on the boards of the Toronto Stock Exchange and the Canadian Investment Dealers Association, in 2003 Bates was appointed as a part-time commissioner to the Ontario Securities Commission, the largest securities commission in Canada. In 2006. Bates has held the president’s office at four major brokerage and investment firms, most recently at the helm of Charles Schwab Canada (later acquired by Bank of Nova Scotia). In 2002, Bates was awarded the Queen’s Jubilee Medal for community service. This commemorative medal is awarded to Canadians who, over the past 50 years, have helped create the Canada of today.
DR. BLAIR FELTMATE, DIRECTOR, SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT, ONTARIO POWER GENERATION, Dr. Feltmate is Director of Sustainable Development, Ontario Power Generation. He sits on various Boards, including: Canadian Expert Delegation for ISO 26000, Canadian Electricity Association Sustainability Program, Ontario Energy Association Environment Program, Canadian Energy Efficiency Alliance and the Research Network for Business Sustainability. He is an invited member to the New York Academy of Sciences. Dr. Feltmate is the author of over 60 publications on environmental science and the business case for sustainable development.
DR. RON DEMBO, FOUNDER & CEO, ZEROFOOTPRINT, an organization dedicated to a mass reduction in global environmental impact. Zerofootprint provides software and services to individuals, governments, universities, and corporations that measure and manage carbon footprint and engages employees and citizens worldwide in combating climate change. Dr. Dembo was also the Founder & CEO of Algorithmics Incorporated, the largest enterprise risk-management software company in the world, which followed a distinguished ten-year academic career at Yale University. He has published over sixty technical papers on finance and mathematical optimization, holds a number of patents in computational finance, and has co-authored three books including Everything You Wanted to Know About Offsetting But Were Afraid to Ask.
JOHANNE GELINAS, DELOITTE & TOUCHE, Johanne Gélinas had a distinguished public sector career focusing on environmental and sustainable development issues. Most recently, she served as the Federal Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development of Canada from 2000 to 2007.
